Readathon! ¡Maratón de lectura! - Jane Austen Center Bath (UK-Reino Unido)

Next 28th January, the Jane Austen Center in Bath (United Kingdom) will make a special activity: the book will be read in its entirety during a twenty-four hour period! The event will take place at the Centre in Gay Street. If you, like us, are unavailable to go there, you will have the opportunity to see it streamed on internet :)

People at the Centre will be able to wear Regency costumes and they will receive a special copy of our beloved book, as well as a certificate.

The event will be punctuated by Regency drama, dancing and music.

Oh, we wish we could be there, guys! :) If someone wants to send us your experience there, we will be eager to hear it! Anyway, as soon as more details are shown, we will publish them in the blog :) We have always appreciated all the efforts from the people who works or volunteers in this centre. Their page was the first Jane Austen site we ever visited when we connected to internet for most of us.

Film: Austenland

Even if we are not watching a new umpteenth version of Pride and Prejudice this next year, we will be able to enjoy this new postmodern version of a janeite tale for Janeites. Based on a book by Shannon Hale published in 2007, Jesusha Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) brings us an adaptation of it with Keri Russell, JJ Feild, Jane Seymour, Bret McKenzie and many others as stars. In cases like this one, we just hope we can have a nice enterteining movie, and if we get a hearted homage to janeites, it would be the best.
The film premieres next January in Sundance Festival and the plot is as follows: "Obsessed with the BBC production of "Pride and Prejudice", a woman travels to a Jane Austen theme park in search for her perfect gentleman"
We will keep writing all the news about this film as any Janeite film that is premiered this year. Just stay tuned! :)

¡Estad atentos! :)

Hampshire, Bath, Winchester and Chawton are making the first moves...

Esta entrada en castellano aquí.

It is imposible that 2013 is missing to every town that are related to Jane Austen, specially on the 200th anniversay of the publication of the most known novel of the writer. She was born in Alton, Hampshire; she then went to Bath and Chawton, and she died in Winchester, in which cathedral she is buried. No one wants to miss the party, they are aware of the visitors that will come (will we go?) in exciting travel, and all the Austen presents that are going to be sold.
So thanks to Cinthia, from Foro de Jane Austen en Castellano, who gave me the news, I let you know, that for the moment, some activities are being schedules in those places, just in case you are preparing a trip or you want to visit some of the events:
Till 23 of December they will make an exhibition with objects related to  Jane Austen, and they want to make it move to other places.
They are making several activites, especially on 28th January.
Even if it is already famous for its ball and party, this year will be special.
On 22nd June of 2013. Last year, it rained, so we hope Jane can help and the weather is good.…
Although in Chatsworth I haven't found any activity for the moment, maybe they just have the official Pemberley, and that's enough.
The usual activities are wonderful and maybe they can do something special.
I don't want to finish without talking about the (virtual) Republic of Pemberley, the oldest Austen blog, wher you can find EVERYTHING. Maybe my sweet memories, are due to those years when surfing in internt was like sci-fi, and there you could find the forum and information, and all janeites could gather.…

Entry in English here
