Meeting/Encuentro: Dones d'Altaia (España/Spain)

Esta noche, las Dones d'Altaia, en la Comunidad de Valencia (España), tienen una cena muy especial, para celebrar el aniversario de Orgullo y Prejuicio. Los miembros del grupo, llamados cariñosamente como "eriçonetes" (erizos), llevan un pequeño pin del animalito y discuten cada cierto tiempo, sus libros.

La cena de esta noche será en Altea (Alicante), y esperamos que el grupo se lo pase muy bien, y si es posible, nos manden alguna foto. ¡Ojalá estuviéramos allí!

Tonight, the Dones d'altaia, in the Community of Valencia (Spain), have a special dinner to celebrate the anniversary of Pride and Prejudice. Members of the group, known affectionately as "eriçonetes" (hedgehogs), carry a small pin with the animal and discuss from time to time, books.

This tonight dinner will be in Altea (Alicante), and we hope that the group has a good time, and if possible, can send us a picture. We wish we were there!

Upper Dublin Library(Washington/USA-EEUU): Activities/activities

To celebrate the 200 years of the book, there will be the following activities:

March 27: Steve Heck, former history teacher from Upper Dublin High School will discuss about the stories of the upper class in Georgian England.

April 28: Elizabeth Steele, from the Jane Austen Society of North America, will speak about the past, present and future of Pride and Prejudice.

May 22: janeites are welcomed to join a discussion aboth their Austen collectibles.

May 29:  Georgian England costume drama at the library and listen to how clothes from the time period has influenced fashion for the next 200 years.

Para celebrar los 200 años del libro, se realizarán las siguientes actividades:

27 de marzo: Steve Heck, antiguo profesor de historia del Upper Dublin High School, hablará sobre las historias de la clase alta de la Inglaterra Georgiana.

28 de abril: Elizabeth Steele, de la Jane Austen Society of North America, hablará sobre el pasado, el presente y el futuro de Orgullo y Prejuicio.

22 de mayo: todos los austenitas están invitados a venir y hablar de sus tesoros austenianos.
29 de mayo:  ropa georgiana en la biblioteca y conferencia acerca de cómo las ropas de esa época han influído en la moda de los 200 años siguientes.

Hoy hemos sabido a través de varios periódicos en líena que la biblioteca de Segovia (España) va a celebrar este mes el aniversario con una exhibición de las obras maestras de Austen. Si vais allí, no dudéis en contárnoslo.

Today we have been informed in several online newspapers that the library of Segovia (Spain) is celebrating this month the anniversary with an exhibition of Austen's masterpiece. If yo go there, do not hesitate to tell us.

As we told you, the great people and staff of Jane Austen House Museum opened a Facebook page and finally, they launched the website in Jane Austen's Birthday. There you will find a lot of activities they are preparing for this next year, and also, many other celebrations happening.

Hampshire, Bath, Winchester and Chawton are making the first moves...

It is imposible that 2013 is missing to every town that are related to Jane Austen, specially on the 200th anniversay of the publication of the most known novel of the writer. She was born in Alton, Hampshire; she then went to Bath and Chawton, and she died in Winchester, in which cathedral she is buried. No one wants to miss the party, they are aware of the visitors that will come (will we go?) in exciting travel, and all the Austen presents that are going to be sold.

So thanks to Cinthia, from Foro de Jane Austen en Castellano, who gave me the news, I let you know, that for the moment, some activities are being schedules in those places, just in case you are preparing a trip or you want to visit some of the events:

1.- Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution

Till 23 of December they will make an exhibition with objects related to  Jane Austen, and they want to make it move to other places.

Imposible que el 2013 pase desapercibido para todas las ciudades que tienen algo que ver con Jane Austen, especialmente en el 200 Aniversario de la publicación de la novela más conocida de la autora. En Alton, Hampshire nació; vivió luego en Bath y Chawton, y falleció en Winchester, en cuya catedral está enterrada. Ninguno quiere perderse el jubileo, conscientes además de la cantidad de visitantes que acudirán (¿acudiremos?) en fervorosa peregrinación, y la de regalitos Austen que se van a vender.

Así que, cortesía de Cinthia, del Foro de Jane Austen en Castellano, que me ha dado aviso de la noticia, os pongo al tanto de lo que, de momento, se está programando en distintos lugares, por si os estáis preparando ya el viaje o tournée, o quisierais ir a alguno de los eventos por separado:

Hasta el 23 de Diciembre presentarán una exposición con objetos relacionados con Jane Austen, y que están dispuestos a que sea “móvil” y pueda verse en distintos lugares.

4. Chatsworth, aka Pemberley

Aunque en Chatsworth no he encontrado, de momento (espero), ninguna celebración especial en torno a Orgullo y Prejuicio, igual les basta y les sobra con ser el Pemberley oficioso, el hogar de los Sres. Darcy, y bastante peregrinaje van a tener ya sin tener que tirar la casa por la ventana.

El entorno y las actividades que organizan son una auténtica maravilla y, celebren algo especial o no, yo lo añadiría a la tournée.

5.- La República de Pemberley

Y no quiero cerrar sin mencionar especialmente a la República (virtual) de Pemberley, el blog más antiguo sobre Jane Austen, donde se puede encontrar TODO. Quizás lo recuerdo con cariño porque, en aquellos años en los que navegar por internet era casi ciencia ficción, allí estaban ellos con su foro y con toda la información, donde nos reuníamos los que estábamos ávidos de compartir nuestra pasión por esta GENIAL escritora…
